FMCSA Issues Exemption from ELD Use in Support of Rerouted Freight

In the wake of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse and the Port of Baltimore’s temporary closure, the FMCSA has granted special authority to local drivers who operate without electronic logging devices (ELD) to continue to work with rerouted freight.

Expected to remain in effect until at least May 8, this temporary exemption from ELD use will allow these drivers to continue to work with paper logs to help deliver freight diverted to other ports within the region (source: TruckingDive).
