CBP Increases MPF Effective October 1

US Customs & Border Protection (CBP) has announced increases to several customs user fees for Fiscal Year (FY) 2027, which begins on October 1, 2026.

The increase was announced in the Federal Register on July 31, 2026, and is intended to adjust for inflation. These adjustments are mandated by the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) from 2015, which requires CBP to update fees whenever inflation warrants a change.

Below are the fees that are most likely to affect importers:

  • MPF (merchandise processing fee): $34.58 (previously $33.58), the MPF ad valorem rate of 0.3464% is unchanged.
  • MPF maximum: $670.86 (previously $651.50).
  • Informal MPF: $2.77 (previously $2.69).
