The Journal of Commerce reported today that the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) concluded months of sometimes rocky negotiations by agreeing on a tentative six-year master contract for East and Gulf coast dockworkers. The deal, if approved by rank-and-file ILA members, would ensure labor peace on the East and Gulf coasts until at least 2024.
