EMO Trans Neutralizes Scopes 1 and 2 Emissions

Happy Earth Day! 🌳Climate change is an issue that affects all of us, and our industry contributes roughly 8% to global CO2 emissions. To address our contribution to carbon emissions, EMO Trans USA launched its Corporate Sustainability Initiative one year ago. Over the past year, we have been measuring and setting reduction targets for our greenhouse gas emissions.

This year, EMO Trans became carbon neutral regarding our Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions.

“This has been accomplished by first measuring our carbon footprint, which includes Scope 1 (direct emissions), Scope 2 (indirect electricity), and Scope 3 (remaining indirect), then making the decision to offset all of our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions with carbon offsets,” says Renee Villanueva, Corporate Sustainability Manager. “We have purchased these offsets from Carbonfund, who will also be our carbon offset provider. We believe that purchasing voluntary carbon offsets is a good starting place for our sustainability efforts, and we expect our initiatives to evolve as we move forward.”

Carbon offset providers are companies that create portfolios of carbon offset projects that reduce greenhouse gases. EMO Trans’ purchased carbon offsets will contribute to the Texas Capricorn Ridge Wind Project, a wind turbine farm that prevents water and air pollution by providing clean energy.

All projects from Carbonfund are third party certified, and their portfolio is third party audited every year.
