Public Meeting on Hazardous Materials Scheduled for June 12

The Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration will host a public meeting June 12 in Washington, D.C., to gather public input on current proposals and discuss potential new work items for inclusion in the agenda of the 53rd session of the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods. The UNSCOE TDG will meet to consider proposals for the 21st revised edition of the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (Model Regulations), which may be implemented into relevant domestic, regional, and international regulations from Jan. 1, 2021.

General topics on the agenda for that meeting include explosives and related matters; listing, classification, and packing; electric storage systems; and transport of gases.

A second meeting to also be held June 12 will discuss proposals in preparation for the 35th session of the United Nations Sub-Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals. (source: Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg)
