Severe Weather Conditions in Chennai

Our partner in India has advised of severe weather conditions in Chennai that are affecting operations. According to Uniworld, “The situation at Chennai is near critical due to a depression over the Southwest Bay of Bengal off north Tamil Nadu. The city has been flooded with incessant rains, and heavy windy conditions are affecting normal operations. Coast Surface Winds will be strong with wind speeds gusting around 45 kilometres per hour over Chennai and nearby districts during the next six hours. As a result, many flights are getting canceled as a precaution. The ports are also severely affected, with loading/offloading coming to a halt and ships moving further out to sea for anchorage.”

Uniworld’s office is being manned by a small staff temporarily while others work from home. All are reachable by email or phone. Please reach out to your EMO Trans contacts if you have any questions or concerns.
