NOTICE: PASS THROUGH CHARGES TO IMPORTERS ASSESSED BY THE PORTS OF LOS ANGELES AND LONG BEACH

The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach announced it will be imposing additional emergency container storage fees commencing November 1, 2021, but will not begin assessing the penalties until November 15, 2021. These new fees will be in effect for 90 days and the Ports reserve the right to delay the collection of these fees if improvement is noted on the pickup of containers. These fees, when imposed,  will be calculated as follows:

1.      For local delivery pick up by motor carriers: On the ninth day, surcharges shall be $100/container, and shall escalate in increments of $100 per day for each day the container(s) are not picked up. For example the 9th day, $100; the tenth day, $200; the 11th day $300, and so forth.
2.      For containers to be delivered for railroad intermodal on-carriage: On the sixth day, surcharges shall be $100/container, and shall escalate in increments of $100 per day for each day the container(s) are not picked up. For example the sixth (6th) day, $100; the seventh (7th) day, $200; the eighth (8th) day $300, and so forth.

These storage fees shall be passed on to our shipper customers pursuant to 46 CFR § 532.5(d) (2) (iv) as pass-through charges with no markup or as an amendment pursuant to 46 CFR §  § 520.8 (b) (4) as additional charges for terminal services not under our control for which we only act as a collection agent without prior notification from the terminals.
