Border Congestion Subject of Concern for EU-UK

With the UK’s exit from the European Union (EU), there are concerns that considerable freight congestion could occur at major EU-UK arteries because of new documentation and inspection requirements. Under EU law, 6-8% of all freight crossing the border would need to be checked. French president Emmanuel Macron has also said that he wants to renegotiate the Le Touquet agreement, by which France and the UK agree that the UK border begins at the port of Calais (source: the Loadstar)
